The Depot is located approximately 5 km from the Mombasa Port Container Terminal on the Mombasa- Nairobi Highway near the Moi International Airport. The facility stands on an area of approximately 12acres piece of land which is well supplied by two active rail sidings in addition to the main Nairobi/Mombasa road network making it strategically placed to receive and dispatch both export and import cargo to various destinations directly to/from our Depot. Furthermore the facilities closeness to the main airport also allows us to handle airfreight cargo coming into the country.


Kipevu Inland Container Depot has complete and well built- up warehouse space for the storage of general cargo and commodity silos for bulk grain storage.  This sheltered warehouse space covers a total area of 250,000 Sq/ft (23.250 Sq/m) with its holding capacity of 100,000MT of general cargo while the silos hold a capacity of 15,000MT of bulk grains.  To ensure proper /actual weights are obtained, the facility is installed with a weigh bridge with a capacity of 100 MT together with a re-bagging line for the silos.  For containerized goods, the facility has an open yard which can store more than 2000 containers at any given time leaving enough space for easy truck movement into and out of the facility.  This ensures speedy stripping of containers hence faster truck turn-round and re-positioning of empty containers to the shipping line nominated yard free of additional costs.



To manage well the big volume of containers handled at the facility, KICD has recently acquired two new lifting machines in addition to the 7 trucks subcontracted which makes work go faster and un- interrupted all round.  In addition the premises offers a fully fledged office block for both its staff and serviced clients. The facility is manned by professional managers backed/ supported by well trained and dedicated staff members who are well versed with customs procedures to handle both export and import business and warehouse operations. 



In terms of security, the facility is surrounded by a high perimeter wall with electric fencing and is further manned by security personnel on a 24/7 basis making it more secure and capable to operate at the facility round the clock during vessel discharge operation.
